Gilbert Chauny co-founded EOS Capital Advisors in 2015 with Ani Rouskova to provide strategic and sell-side M&A advisory services across the energy and digital infrastructure sectors.
Prior to launching EOS, Gilbert was a founding member of Emerging Cleantech and an Entrepreneur in Residence at Hudson Clean Energy, where he helped create Hudson’s wholly owned renewable subsidiary Element Power. Earlier, he served in the M&A and Finance division of Iberdrola Renewables, leading U.S. acquisitions and financing efforts.
While at Emerging Cleantech, Mr. Chauny advised global investors in aggregating solar and wind portfolios globally. In these engagements, he has negotiated term sheets on over 800 MWs of opportunities a year, led due diligence efforts, and negotiated definitive agreements on over 400 MWs of contracted assets. Accustomed to working with European, North American and Latin American stakeholders, Mr. Chauny bridges the gap to facilitate successful transactions.
Mr. Chauny began working in energy as a member of the investment team at Iberdrola Renovables’ Madrid Headquarters. In this capacity, he focused on the acquisition of renewable energy projects from targeted search to valuation, and negotiation of transactions totaling over 3,000 MW throughout Europe (Spain, Portugal, France, Germany, Greece, Romania, Turkey, Poland and the United Kingdom). In 2006, as a member of the team tasked with the company’s entry into the US market, he led the valuation of US wind developers and secured board buy-in on U.S. tax monetization financing structures.
In that same year, Mr. Chauny was the first Iberdrola executive sent to the U.S., playing a key role in the company’s establishment and growth in North America. During his tenure, he worked on the acquisition of companies with portfolios totaling over eight thousand megawatts in Renewable Energy (Wind) projects. He led project finance, valuation and strategic planning, and closed Iberdrola’s first tax equity deal in early 2007.
Mr. Chauny was recruited by Hudson Clean Energy Partners, LLC (Teaneck, NJ) to help establish its wholly owned portfolio company, Element Power. In his role, he led the preliminary strategic planning for Element Power and the identification of acquisition opportunities. He was named Director of Finance and Mergers and Acquisitions at Element Power and led the acquisition (opportunity identification, due diligence, and negotiation) of over 1 GW of assets in North America.
Mr. Chauny has a Bachelor’s in Business Administration with a Major in Finance from The George Washington University, Washington, DC and a Masters of Science in Finance, Bayes Business School (City St George's, University of London), London, United Kingdom. Mr. Chauny is a registered Investment Banking Representative (FINRA Series 79) with active Series 63 and SIE.
